Land buying rises around Crookston Minnesota

J Guerdet from Crookston says land prices are advancing in the area though not as fast as in other sections. He recently sold a half section and bought a well improved quarter. Death of Nicholas Merklin at Home Near High Lake

Nicholas Merklin died at his home near High Lake from cancer. The funeral will be held from Graettinger today. Particulars will be published next year.

Graettinger Air Visit Sparks Town Tourists

Tuesday afternoon Lieut Flavius Donaldson of Milford and Dr Clinite of Estherville piloted a Curtiss training plane to Graettinger. The small craft landed in fields south and northeast of town where locals including H N Osher FP J Paulsen and Miss Margaret Nefstead took aerial spins. Many enjoyed the ride, expressing gratitude to the visitors for their afternoon attraction.

Severe cyclone hits Fergus Falls area causes deaths and damage

A Sunday night cyclone struck Fergus Falls area about one hundred miles north to Graettinger. It caused over 400 deaths, 160 injuries, and property losses estimated at six million dollars.

Early reports describe a strong south wind near Estherville on Monday with debris from nearby trees scattered across roads. Sunday night brought about eight heavy rains at Big Lake, according to local observations and resident statements.

Mrs Lott Laughlin Dies. Pioneer County Lady

Mrs Lott Laughlin mother of Martin Laughlin of Emmetsburg died at her home on Saturday. The funeral was held in Emmetsburg Tuesday with a large attendance from Graetting. she was a pioneer county lady. Her husband died a couple of years ago. The Times extends sympathy to the relatives.

Miss Croot Died Saturday in Spirit Lake

Miss Croot, who taught in Graettinger schools two years ago, died at her Spirit Lake home on Saturday after a bout with influenza. A niece of Mrs. McMahon of Emmetsburg, she was well liked in Graettinger and her death brings sorrow to the community.
