Mrs Joseph Hassel Rites Held For Local Resident
Mrs Joseph Hassel died Friday at her home east of the city after a stroke on Thursday. She had been in poor health, with prior paralysis episodes, and leaves husband Joseph and five living children Joseph Ben Barney Vincent Veronica. A son John died in 1920. Funeral services were at the Catholic church with Rev Father Kelly, interment at the local Catholic cemetery. She was born Margaret Mulligan in Johnston Scotland July 8 1878 and moved to the United States in 1883. She resided in Ottawa before moving to this community in 1915. She was a devout Catholic and well regarded by neighbors and friends.

Obituary of William Lindaly in Merrill Iowa 1927
Dr L Lindsey mourns his father William Lindaly born July 29 1857 in Galena Illinois died June 6 1927 at his Merrill Iowa home from diabetes aged 69 years 10 months 8 days. He married Barbara Casper February 26 1885 at Seales Mound and had seven children including L L Lindsey of Gracttinger and S D Lindsey of Sioux City. He was a farmer in Akron and Liberty township and later retired in Merrill. He was active in Farmers Elevator and Farmers Telephone Company and attended the Morrill Methodist church. He is survived by three brothers ten grandchildren and several daughters in Merril.
