Storm damages farms and windmill near Graetinger
A Monday evening storm northeast of Graetinger wrecked the John Bosel windmill and silo, broke a large window at Joe Oakes residence, and damaged nearby buildings. Gardens and potato crops suffered, while corn and oats are expected to recover. West of Graetinger five miles, no rain fell and moisture has been scarce since April 12.

War Veteran Clifford Jones Dies After Illness
Clifford Jones, 26, a war veteran who served with U S forces in Europe and was wounded in action, died Monday morning at Estherville hospital after appendicitis surgery was followed by infection. Remains shipped to Brookville Pennsylvania where his father, two sisters and five brothers reside. He had lived with T Shiley near Wallingford and worked for Charles Richardson recently. His death draws much sorrow from friends and his boyhood home in Brootsville.
