Brookhart Wins By 75 000 In Monday's Primary
The Sunday primary results show Col. Smith W Brookhart winning by about 75 000 votes, with a likely final margin near 80 000 and a statewide majority. Claude Porter of Des Moines was Democratic nominee. In Palo Alto County Brookhart led with 2461 votes against Clark 516 and Cummins 644. Agnes Samuelson defeated Mac Francia for state superintendent by at least 10 000. Supt H L Binckmar of Ottumwa is the Democratic nominee. Saunders of Emmetsburg beat McCarty for state representative 1808 to 1482. Leo Shen named sheriff by 586, J D Martin treasurer by 632. In Emmet County Crone named representative, Klopp auditor, Brown sheriff. Mrs Woods seeks state rep but polled poorly. Debate over delegates to county convention. Brookhart delegates won over Cummins. In Walnut Township 341 votes cast. 305 Republicans and 36 Democrats. County totals show Brookhart leading with multiple candidates named.

A class of eighteen hoya and girle received diplomas at the commence ment exercises of the Gracht inger Public schools held at the Hawkeye theatre last Thursday evening. Student suffers broken nose in school accident

Graet Tiger High School Class Day Program Held
Wednesday afternoon last week Graet Tiger High School held its class day program in the school assembly. Orville Smith presided as chairman. Holger Geil gave the oration, James Gammon spoke on class history, Al Graettinger delivered the class prophecy, Marjorie Johnsen read the class will, and Victor Henningsen gave the valedictory. Three boys and three girls sang a commencement song. The program drew good attendance and was enjoyed by many. Afterward visitors viewed Domestic Science and manual training displays in the Domestic Science room.

A Great Deal Of Wind locality suffered a terrific wind storm Sunday and Monday damaging corn in many places. Dust filled air on Sunday but eased on Monday as wind persisted. Previous Tuesday's sand also hurt corn. Monday reports show heavy corn losses though moisture had been ample in recent weeks. Conditions remain more favorable for crops here than in neighboring northwest Iowa regions.
