In Monday's primary voter results Senator Smith W. Brookhart loses to Henry Field by about 60,000 votes. Field wins Palo Alto 1812 to 1608. D. L. Johnson secures auditor and E. M. Thompson clerk nominations. Brereton's Mia named recorder in landslide. County Sheriff Henry Willingham and treasurer Casper Nelson win Republican nominations. Democratic nominees include W. T. Branagan for congress and Miss Hagan for recorder. County totals show Johnson, Thompson, Brookhart, Willingham leading in several posts. ballot shortage disrupts later voting in Walnut and surrounding townships.

Glenn Haynes emerged as the preferred candidate, but Field was briefly touted to weaken Brookhart’s support.
