Remains Of Eli Craven Laid To Rest Friday

Eli Craven died in this city on May 26 at the age of nearly 82. Funeral services were held at the M E church with Rev. Fremont Faul officiating. Interment followed at Graettinger cemetery. Survived by son Oscar J Craven and daughter in law Fr Harris, daughter Fannie Darling in California, eleven grandchildren, and four of eight children living in the area. lengthy obituary notes a sober, loyal farmer who valued credit and neighborly aid.

Barney Hassel Retains Heavy Crown in Arnolds Park Clash

Barney Hassel of Graettingar defended his heavyweight boxing title at Arnolds Park on a night card. Challenger Tuck Vaart of Hartley was stopped in the fourth round after a flurry of power punches. Tommy Craven and Wild Bill Gerdes also lost decisions as the local event opened with a fast paced exhibition by the Miller team.

The American Legion Auxiliary of Grachtinger will hold a county meeting Friday evening June 10 at Woodman Hall starting 8 30 p m The customary program will be held a large attendance is expected and a good time is assured More details will appear next week in the Times

Russell Duhn and Bride Here on Honeymoon

Mr. and Mrs. Russell Duhn arrived from Devil's Lake North Dakota on Sunday for a visit with Mrs. Duhn’s sister Mrs. Ralp Masters and family. They were united in marriage at Devil's Lake on April 24 with Miss Luella Sanders as the bride. The groom, a Graettinger native, had recently worked in California in welding before going to North Dakota. The bride is new to the community but well regarded by those who have met her. The Times offers congratulations and best wishes for a long and happy marriage.

Emmet County Picnic Draws Large Turnout Despite Rain

Emmet County Coweating association members held their annual picnic Tuesday at the Hawkeye with a morning judging contest at Henry Lammers farm. Winners were named in cream scoring and a kitten ball game saw Emmet best Palo Alto 9 to 7. Speakers from Ames Estherville and Emmet county spoke before a brief post lunch program.

The funeral for Mrs Lewis Iverson was held Wednesday at the Lutheran cemetery east of Graettinger and reinterred at High Lake. Rev Strand of Wallingford led a brief service with relatives from Osage Iowa in attendance. High Lake has long served as the Iverson family burial ground.

Sad Death at Swea City Claims Mrs Lundquist at 41

Mrs. C. W. Lundquist died suddenly in Swea City last week after an illness described as intestinal flu. Aged 41, she married in June 1912 and leaves five children, the youngest two years old, with one child deceased. Her husband is a physician in Swea City.

Stolen Liquor Lifts Sleuths From Estherville Jail
