Quiet Primary Election With Three Republican Contests
In Walnut township primary day produced a subdued turnout with no Democratic races and three Republican contests. Brookhart and Breskenridge carried Walnut, while Carmichael won the county attorney post and Mrs. Jorenson the recorder. Final countywide tallies show Brookhart leading for U.S. Senator, Breakenridge for State Senate, and Martin for County Treasurer among others, with 821 votes cast in Walnut. Graettinger High School Holds Graduation Exercises
Graettinger High School awarded twenty three diplomas at the Hawkeye theatre Thursday evening with Rev S O Sande delivering the invocation. Dr Hornell N Hart of Town University gave the address stressing that graduation marks a beginning, not an end, and urging virtue over greed. Diplomas were presented by Mrs B E George as the list of graduates was read including James Anderson Mary Craven Thomas Donlon Earl Ericson Genevieve Guimmon and others. Alfred Skow is noted as not receiving a diploma due to school law, while additional students earned eighth grade diplomas and will enter high school next year.

Memorial Day Observance and Pageant in Graettinger
Memorial Day exercises led by the John Nelson American Legion post included a morning parade to school grounds, cemetery decorations, and a 2:30 PM Hawkeye theatre pageant tracing American history. The event featured Emmetsburg author Mrs. W E G Saunders, a history pageant, and remarks by World War veteran John Corey Jr. of Spencer. The day closed with a benediction by Rev C J Mekkelson.

Graettinger People Attend Lake Mills United Lutheran Meeting
