He notes daily meals and concerts, family and local connections, and signs off with best wishes.

Woman in Walnut township dies at 31

Mrs Ben Espland of Walnut township died Sunday evening after eight months of illness. Funeral Tuesday at home and Danish Lutheran church. burial in parochial cemetery. She leaves husband Ben N Espland three children Laurence Myron Nellie and her parents Peter Ed Henry Duhn and sisters Lars Rasmussen and S M Anderson. Reverend Simonsen conducted services. pallbearers listed.

Camp Meeting at Arnold's Park a Great Success

The Sheldon district Methodists closed their camp meeting with a large turnout and strong addresses from Bishop Lewis and Bishop W. O. Shepherd of Kansas City. About 2,000 attended the services and a missionary tone pervaded the week with lectures, a temperance talk, and a planned next year’s site near the lakes. The fisheries report notes rising fish populations in local ponds, led by a hatchery effort praised by State Game Warden Hinishaw.

Train Ditch Accident Near Round Lake

A northbound branch line train derailed about two miles from Round Lake. The engine and tender tipped, trucks separated, and the locomotive rolled over. Engineer Wetherell escaped with minor injuries after the fireman jumped. Wrecker sent from Estherville. coach and remaining cars then hauled to Lake Park.

Child Dies After Farm Construction Accident Near Gladbyrook

Four year old Marvin Lage died near St Thomas hospital after a frame on his father’s elevator project broke loose. The 4x4 frame fell on him, fracturing his skull during construction two hours earlier on the family farm two miles east of Gladbyrook. Dr H H Nichols rushed him to Marshalltown where he died in his arms.

Two Auto Accidents Involves Clausen and Jensen Families

Two accidents this week near town caused injuries and property damage. James Clausen and family escaped serious harm after a Sunday crash near the Will Truesdell place. Miss Show suffered an elbow bruise and Mrs Clausen’s mother was badly hurt as the car rolled over. The other collision at the Ruthven deep cut crossing involved Chris and Charley Jensen with Clarence Axelton. both cars were moving slowly, none injured, though one windshield broke. The Jensens missed a Fort Dodge train but were helped by Ed Thompson to continue their trip.

Iowa wheat growers average a loss of 67.00 per farmer annually due to price declines since the Republicans left power. Nationwide, the average loss is 95.00 per farmer, totaling 139.5 million dollars as production nears 980 million bushels for the year. There are 86,284 reporting Iowa farmers with an estimated 16,308,000 bushels produced in the year.
