Good Haul From Milwaukee Tank Car Wreck Near Winkelman
A gasoline tank overturned from freight No. 71 near Winkelman switch at Jefferson Town early Monday. Five or six cars derailed. gasoline leaked for hours before wrecking crews cleared the line by 11. A few locals hiked out and collected as much as 85 gallons, with rough totals over 100 gallons. Separately, Judge Lockwood in Chicago set aside Homer Rodeheaver’s $20,000 breach of promise verdict to Miss Georgia Jay, citing excessiveness and payability concerns. Boy Kicked by Cow Injures Leg at Bradley Farm
Opal Wheeler twelve year old son of Mr and Mrs Philo Wheeler of the Bradley farm east of town was kicked by a cow while milking. The left leg sustained a double fracture above the ankle with bone protruding through the flesh. The wound is painful but improving and he will soon need crutches.

Sand pit disaster in Corwith claims Sutcliff life
Corwith dispatch reports Arthur R. Sutcliff fatally injured when a sand pit caved in on him. He crawled out, was crushed again, found unconscious after about five hours, and died at 2:00 AM. He aided a blind widowed mother and sister, as the family recently moved into town.
