Chautauqua Tickets On Sale At Higher Price After Opening

A Chautauqua committee meeting Friday evening drew a large crowd with Graeitinger ladies pledging to sell 175 dollars in tickets. Beginning the next day ticket price rises to two dollars from the opening day rate of 1.50. Tickets available from the ladies or local businesses.

Mrs Walier Dead Sister of Local Residents

Mrs Walier sister of Mrs Preston Fahnestock and J A Spies of this place died at her St Louis home Tuesday evening after a year long illness. The funeral will be held in St Louis tomorrow. Survived by a Wichita sister and a St Louis brother, with Mrs Fahnestock and Mr Spies at her bedside.

Auto Races Planned To Top Of Pike's Peak

H N Osher returns from Colorado trip recounting snow at the Peak and a drive to near the summit in an automobile with the last 1500 feet walked. A road to the top is to be completed in late July or early August and preparations for auto races from the base to the summit are underway. Osher also visited Colorado Springs and Pueblo during the trip.

False news of Professor Kent death circulated near Brownsville

A dispatch claimed Professor D A Kent died at his ranch near Brownsville Texas. His daughter Mrs J H Gammon wired for details. a day later a reply denied the report as erroneous. The Kent family, living near Brownsville close to the Mexican border, faced border tensions and threats amid uprisings and bandit activity along the line.
