Knute Iverson Laid To Rest

Knute Iverson, longtime resident, died at his daughter’s home in Minneapolis after a lengthy illness. Funeral held at Lost Island Lutheran Church with Rev. Sande. buried beside his wife in parochial cemetery. Survived by nine children and thirteen grandchildren. he served on the Palo Alto county board of supervisors and was esteemed for honesty, kindness, and strong character.

Fatal accident at Hands Park on Fourth of July

A child named Fern Kittleson, youngest of five sisters from five miles northwest of Ceylon, was killed at Hands Park when struck by a car driven by Gilbert Helekskon, a respected Armstrong farmer. Witnesses say the car rolled over the girl after she was knocked down. the coroner deemed the death unavoidable. The incident darkened the holiday as doctors and crowds watched in shock.

Five Day Grachtinger Chautauqua Ends With Mixed Results

The five day Grachtinger chautauqua closed Saturday with high praise for the program though attendance was light and receipts ran $270 short. Guarantors misfired on advance ticket sales, sparking the deficit, while audiences enjoyed the performances, especially Peg O' My Heart. The Junior Chautauqua drew strong youth interest, and overall the series offered genuine entertainment despite financial shortfalls.
