Gracttinger's big annual Chautauqua ends after five days of entertainment. Weather dampened some attendance while talk by Sergeant Boyle drew interest. Bliss Family Seven Sons In Military Service
The Bliss family of 1115 Phillips Avenue Sioux Falls has seven sons in the armed forces. George Bliss, the eldest, enlisted in Lincoln Nebraska as a veterinary surgeon and is now stationed at Fort Logan Colorado. The six younger brothers are serving in various branches, most in France, with no injuries reported. Mr. Bliss says if needed, three more sons could join to beat the Kaiser.

I Hendricksen Rites Mark Local Memorial
The funeral of T I Hendricksen was held at his residence then at the Danish Lutheran church with burial in South Walnut parochial cemetery. Pallbearers included S P Duhn and others, as family and many relatives attended. Hendricksen, born April 23, 1857 in Radburg Denmark, emigrated 1881 and married Christena Raun in 1882. he and his wife lived near Gracetinger and Cedar Falls before settling in this locality. He leaves his wife, eight living children, a sister and three brothers. He was a respected, industrious man who faced illness after an operation at Mayo Rochester, succumbing June 80, after pneumonia. The Times offers condolences.

The troop train No. 2438, with Fast Time Engineer Wm Post at throttle and W R Rost as fireman, covered Estherville to Iowa Falls in two hours fifty two minutes, 110 miles, with a time of 4442 leaving Estherville. The run set a record pace and the Red Cross in Iowa Falls served lunch to 604 troops in five minutes forty seconds, a speed record for service. Conductor L R Jonson and brakemen Meward Dillon Jo Nissen oversaw the train at Estherville Vindicator and Republican.

Man Falls on Saw and Killed Near Elgin Iowa
