The loss prompts a plan to merge Charles City College assets with Morningside College including library, collections, and faculty transfers. Two Colleges Merge Into One at MorningSide Iowa
The joint commission of Morningside College and Charles City College met on June 30 to draft a basis for union. The agreement, adopted by Morningside trustees, allows immediate effect with Charles City Commission empowered to act. The united college will be administered by 42 trustees, nine from the Northwest German Conference, with Charles City holdings funds funneled into a Northwest German Conference Endowment Fund. The merged school begins operations at Morningside in September and aims for a strong, well equipped institution with an endowment near $100,000 plus existing funds, totaling about half a million.
