Graettinger Ringsted Mallard Lost Island Lost Island and Christiansen Grove plan July 3 to 6 gatherings with dances, picnics, and a band from the Rainbow Division. Wallingford and Spencer connections include a bank robbery inquiry and a Spencer service station expansion.
The Times reports July 5 will be observed nationwide as a holiday. Grachtinger places requested mention of adjusted hours with Farmers & Merchants Bank Float National Bank and Lawrence Clothing Co noting openings to 10 hem.
In a Thursday at Jackman ball park Galfingerde? defeated the single men 6 to 3. Battery details show Paulsen and Osher for the singles. Reeves Keator Conway and Reeves for the married men. Another game is set for Thursday evening at the same park. The match was lively though a few errors were noted.
Ringsted baseball team defeated the Graettinger Electrics 4 to 1 at Lake Side Electric Park Sunday. Sawyer and Reeves were the Graettinger battery. Ringsted played a solid defensive game and pressed for the win, while Graettinger left three on base in the ninth without a tying run. The Ringsted schedule includes a game against Twilight club of Graettinger at High Lake on Sunday July 5th, and Mallard vs Graettinger Electrics at Loxt Island Park is also on the docket.
Graettinger defeats West Bend 5 to 4 at Jackman Ball Park in a tense nine inning battle. Paulsen hit a three base triple in the ninth scoring Strausar for the decisive run as Giettinger pitched steadily striking out fifteen.
The Graettinger Twilight team schedules a Friday baseball game in the city, July 8, with Horswell arranging opponents. Uncertain which team will visit, the costly weekday event risks discontinuation if attendance stays low. residents urged to attend Friday July 8.
An alumni banquet and homecoming was held at the High School on a Wednesday evening in June. The event drew a large crowd and featured a varied program with Mrs. John Jackman as toastmistress. The program included music by Ward and Olive Noble, and performances by Agnes Bojex Jackman, Frances Hendricke, Elizabeth Spies, Gladys Johnson, Minnie Henningaen, Cloke BUBB, Vernon Dickey, Vesta Christopher Nofsteat, Arthur Myhre, Otto Spieg, and Adolph Spies. Officers were elected for the coming year: President Mabel Oshar Henningeon, Vice-president Rugero Foster, Secretary Stohces Hendricks.
Mrs. Archer died Thursday after a long illness and was buried in Rolfe beside her husband and children. Born 1844 in Medina County Ohio, she married George Archer in Rochelle Illinois. Surviving is her son Ben Archer of this community. other children preceded her. Funeral held in Rolfe with burial in the local cemetery.
Reading the May 18 Town Homestead item, claims allege that the Pennsylvania railroad buys engines and supplies from Baldwin Locomotive Works via mutually connected directors. The Wall Street Journal inquiry replies that no Pennsylvania directors sit on Baldwin boards, calls the claim doubtful, and notes Clayton Law limits rail dealings with common directors.
A drew wrestling bout at Emmetsburg Carnival between Ben F. Reeves of Graettinger and Simmons ended without a decision after resets of the two falls, Reeves rallying in the first and Simmons the second. Crowds filled Lost Island park for a finish match to follow the ball game.
