While returning from a call to a sick resident, he threaded a lane blocked by barbed wire across willows. A high gear dash caused the windshield to shatter, leaving him with a scratched nose but no serious injuries.

Mason City reports the opening term will hear the state accuse Ada Burgess of murdering her three month old child by poison. Burgess, 19, admits administering the poison but blames threats by Louis Chirikes, serving a life term for Beame. Burgess sought insanity but may plead guilty. she came from Amboy, Minnesota, about a year ago. Her father is a farmer.
Federal inspectors visited Estherville and condemned several engines used on the Rock Island lines out of Estherville. They ordered repairs, noting some engines were near the zero mark on performance when examined. Reports in newspapers confirm the condemnation and required fixes.
