Funeral Of Mrs C C Rucker Held Sunday
The community mourns Mrs. C G Rucker of this city who died after a three week illness at Coleman hospital Estherville. Funeral services were held Sunday at her residence and at the Methodist Episcopal church with a large attendance. She leaves a husband Claude G C Rucker three children Willard Ruth Florence Jeanette Zeilla and measures of support from brothers and relatives. Her death ends a devoted wife mother and neighbor’s life in the area.

The new Federal siren is now in operation in Gruettinger connected to the telephone office. It sounds daily at twelve noon and will be ready for fire alarms. The old bell remains on the tower for use as a curfew and in emergencies. City officials are congratulated on the improvement.

Meningitis Death At Emmetsburg Woman
Myra J. Brown of Emmetsburg died from spinal meningitis after falling ill Thursday and passing away Sunday afternoon. Funeral services were held Monday with interment at Mallard. She was 50 and survived by her husband two sons and a daughter. Brown had recently visited Curran boy’s classroom prior to illness.

Bankers At County Meet Discuss Service Charges
County bankers gathered at the Kermore hotel in Kammerybarg Tuos iy night to elect officers for the county association for the year ahead. They discussed that banking business is returning to normal but banks hold larger reserves, creating added costs. They concluded public free service cannot continue and that charges will be adopted to cover higher help costs. Committees were formed to investigate further and report to the county association at a future meeting.

Palo Alto Glee Club Gave Fine Program
The Palo Alto County Glee Club of about twenty six visited Graettinger Tuesday evening and performed seven or eight selections at the PB T A program at the High School Assembly. The numbers were splendid and the audience enjoyed them. Afterward guests visited the Winsor hotel, run by Mr and Mrs Fisher of Emmetaburg, for a real house warming with luncheon and cigars. The visitors were a happy magical group, praised by Graettinger’s people, and the locals hope they return.

Mrs Rierson Dies After Illness in Lost Island Township
Mrs Rierson of Lost Island township died Wednesday after a ten day illness from pneumonia. Funeral Friday at 12:20 pm at home and 1 pm at the Lutheran Church. Interment in Lost Island cemetery. Survived by husband and five children aged from two to fifteen. Obituary notice to appear next week.

The Palo Alto county church school of methods begins its second annual venture next Monday at 2 oclock in Emmetsburg. New features include psychology applied to religious education taught by Rev. W. B. Kline, storytelling for instruction by Miss Florence Walls, drama as an aid to religious education by Mrs. C. G. Herbrecht, and Des Moines music expert Mrs. Walter Hutton dedicating time to church music. Also new are demonstrations in primary grade work by Mrs. Walter Schroeder and a beginners class on methods for dealing with little children by Mrs. O. H. Brockway. Rev. J. L. Brereton is dean, with Miss Luella Johnson as registrar and treasurer.

Hog theft recovery near Estherville prompts sheriff hunt
