Curlew Junior High boys won 14 to 12 while Curlew girls edged Graettinger 33 to 32 in a three game program at the High School gym. Graettinger Independent team defeated the High School boys 81 to 26 as fans packed the gym amid local talk of the Independents’ strength.

Andy Anderson, proprietor of Andy's Barber Shop in Graettinger, quit business and moved his equipment and household goods to Sherburne Minnesota. He occupied the E. 9 George building on the south side, the former post office location. Business has been slow for months and Mr. Anderson decided to leave the community. Gracttinger people regret their departure.

McConnell Auction Set for February First Sale
Wm. McConnell of Graettinger plans an auction on Wednesday, February 1 starting at 1 PM. He moves to a smaller farm and will sell four head of good horses and two head of carts plus 19 head of cattle including eighteen Holsteins and one Jersey, with ten cows owned by neighbor Hermon Harke. Cattle are tested TB and appear very choice, along with a large farm machinery listing including a Fordson tractor. Grodland and Reeves are auctioneers. H. A. Mrs. John Kirtz 88 of Mallard died at her daughter Anna Kendall’s home. Funeral held Tuesday in Mallard with six grandchildren as pallbearers. Born in Germany 1860, she married there then moved to America in 1882 living near Gracttinges and later Ellington township. Eleven children born, nine living. daughter Mrs Henry Smith of Armstrong connected to the Grachtinger area. Community shares in the family loss.

Estherville Men Injured In Auto Wreck Near Town
Lou Wannamaker and J H Barnes were badly hurt last Tuesday night when their Studebaker left the road near Estherville. Wannamaker, a local merchant, suffered multiple broken ribs and Barnes sustained a broken shoulder blade. The car was severely damaged as bystanders helped extract them from the wreck. Barnes is Wannamaker’s son in law.

McMackin Back On The Job In Emmet County
Wm McMackin escaped from the Emmet county poor house while serving six months for a liquor charge and was arrested in Council Bluffs then brought to Estherville Wednesday. He had been arrested at Ringsted June 29 with 200 gallons of liquor and received six months in jail and a $500 fine. He was moved from the poor farm and took French leave after Christmas. A baby girl was born to Mr and Mrs John Conway of Osgood on Uhura day, but the baby died Sunday. The Conways have many friends in sorrow.
