Graettinger High Defeats Ringsted In 21 to 9 Victory

Graettinger High School beat Ringsted High at the local gym 21 to 9 on Friday night. Graettinger showed better teamwork and shooting under Coach White with Johnson scoring most and Christiansen excelling. Green and Reynolds starred as guards holding Ringsted to a low tally. Girls team, Seniors and Sophomores won 15 to 4 over Juniors and Freshmen, with Nelson and Truesdell leading scoring and Craven guarding Nelson effectively.

Mrs Anfin Rierson of Lost Island township purchased the John Paulsen home known as the Gyvaettinger place recently owned by FP B Schumann after trading his hotel property. Rierson plans to move to Graettinger to make her future home. A League of Nations debate is slated at the High School on February 20, and a Hard Time dance by Homeastend lodge will be held January 26 with the Burrdenan orchestra.

Mr and Mrs Mills run the eating house and with the soda fountain ice cream parlor added they will stay busy. Much wood burned this winter due to coal prices. a hardware dealer in Oskalhesa reports selling more wood stoves than in ten years.

Narrow Escape for Pete Geil at Lake Park Accident

Henry Scharfenberg and Pete Geil were seriously injured when a left side rod broke on a Worthington branch engine near Lake Park. The rod struck the cab, steam filled the car, and all three men jumped. Scharfenberg dislocated a hip, Geil had two broken ribs, Scholtes was uninjured. they were taken to Coleman hospital in Estherville and rested.
