Walnut Township Farm Bureau Annual Meeting Held
The Walnut Township Farm Bureau met January 12 at the east Walnut schoolhouse. Officers included M. L. Murphy as chair, Howard Head as president, Mrs. M. L. Murphy as vice president, and Tt. M. Young as secretary. Program featured recitations by Roy Young James McClean and M. J. Murphy Jr and a tuberculosis control talk by Dr. Lindsey. A motion authorized forming a committee to seek larger tuberculosis eradication funding. Julius Skow Dr. Lindsey and Fred Lavelle were named. The next meeting will be at the Osgood school with a committee tasked to arrange the program and refreshments. A Ku Klux Klan organizer was in Tripoli last week offering to purge Catholics Jews and foreign-born citizens and seize governance from authorities, promising money and fun.

Graettinger Defeats Ruthven In Close Girls Basketball
Graettinger girls beat Ruthven 29 to 11 on Ruthven High School floor for the second time this year. Star players Nelson and Gammon led scoring with Ruthven’s Fiesler also strong. After the game, Hermanson and Barnett hosted a gathering at Miss Hermanson’s home with lunch before the group dispersed amid car troubles and thawing pipes.

Trustees of Walnut and Jack Creek townships schedule meetings on Monday February 5 to hire road superintendents and accept bids for road work and dragging. G W Gotke of Iowa City recently received his M A degree after teaching since the university’s opening. He and Mrs Gotke will stay in town until June. Graettinger High School athletes traveled to Armstrong, losing 29 18 as Armstrong dominated both halves. Bertha Peterson and Arthur Forbes Holland wed at the Gedney hotel with Rev J K Hawkins officiating. the couple, from Graettinger and Independence, begin a new life with best wishes from friends in both towns.
