The Rose In the Ring Prologue and Threads of Escape
In a long fragment from Jenison Hall a Virginia circus world unfolds with David Jenison a young Virginian fleeing arrest seeks refuge. Braddock, Grand, and others scheme around inheritance, money and romance as clues about Christine Braddock and Mary Braddock surface. Roberta Grand, Colonel Bob Grand’s daughter, encounters David, hinting at past affairs and a path toward reunion amid peril and intrigue. The tale threads toward a looming decision and shifting loyalties in a prelude to further drama.
