Dalton Gang saga ends in Coffeyville gunfight
The Dalton Gang rose with Eva Dalton's marriage to J N Whipple in 1887 and pursued robberies across Oklahoma and Kansas. A famed Coffeyville showdown on Oct 5 1892 left eight dead, four wounded, and ended with the gang's demise. Emmet Dalton survived, later jailed, then released and died in 1937 as a symbol that crime does not pay.
