Sub County Declam Contest Here Tonight
Cylinder Emmetsburg Graettinger and West Bend will be represented in the sub county contest to be held in Graettinger this evening. Twelve contestants will take part in four in each division with admission 10, 25 and 50 cents. Graettinger residents urged to attend though country access may be difficult. Mallard Won County Tournament in Palo Alto county with boys and girls taking first. Mallard defeated Ayrshire and Ruthven, then West Bend 37 to 10. Graettinger was eliminated by West Bend. Graettinger girls lost to Emmetsburg, who then beat Ruthven. Graettinger’s basketball team, once strong, had an off night then.

Car Crash Injures Drake and Boughton on Federal Highway
Carl Drake of Gracttinger and M. R. Boughton of Emmatsburg were injured Sunday evening when the Hudson they rode in rear ended a Milford man’s Ford on the Federal Highway east of Spencer at 7:50. Drake had a gash requiring three stitches. Boughton suffered two severe head wounds plus knee and arm injuries. The Ford was demolished and the Hudson front damaged about 150 dollars. Drake, driving at about 36 mph, did not see the Ford until too late after Milford man stopped to change a tire and stepped into his car. The Ford’s driver likely thought the car accelerated as it leaped into the air. All parties escaped serious harm.

The Ringsted annual meeting reported year to date shipping of over 159 cars and nine month business volume of 166,081.06 dollars. W Bury and J M Robinson were re elected to the board. Fred F Clark and H Thompson spoke as secretary read the membership agreement. The June meeting drew 100 attendees with lunch served. They reported 1105 cars totaling 198,636.74 dollars and speakers W E G Saunders and Fired F Clark noted strong cooperative momentum. The county leads in cooperative marketing and 1927 is expected to bring greater progress.
