Death of Mrs Ida Cummins at Newcastle Nebraska

Mrs Ida Cummins of Newcastle dies of rheumatism of the heart. Her parents Mr and Mrs I Noble travel to Newcastle after the telegram. Survived by husband and five children. Funeral plans unsettled. remains may be moved to Graettinger for burial. Also note Graettinger High School boys defeat Armstrong 81 to 11 after Armstrong adds three new players.

Ed Anderson Auction Set for March 8 in Graettinger

Ed Anderson of east of Graettinger will hold an auction Tuesday March 8. He plans to farm only 120 acres this year after a half section last year and will sell 8 horses, 32 cattle, 12 Duroc Jersey sows and various machinery. The notice will run in next week's Graettinger Times.

Household Goods Auction This Saturday

Miss Nell McCarty will sell her household goods at auction this Saturday starting at two o'clock. The sale will be held one block north and one block east of the Lutheran church as she moves to St Paul. Grodland and Hepp are auctioneers with Vincent Kelly as clerk.

Tornell Granted New Trial in Estherville District Court

Judge DeLand granted Leonard Tornell a new trial in Estherville District Court. The date is not fixed. Tornell remains free on bail as juror instructions were deemed possibly erroneous and sentiment in Ta therville was not favorable.

Funeral Service for Paul Paulson Sunday in two churches

The funeral for Paul Paulson will be held Sunday at 12:30 in the Norwegian Lutheran church in Graettinger and at 2:30 in the Danish Lutheran church in South Walnut. Interment follows at the South Walnut Cemetery. Relatives delayed the service while locating P. J. Paulsen in California. he was expected to arrive in Graettinger Friday or Saturday, prompting the final arrangements.

Superior auction sales report from Reeves and Bush Brothers

Reeves reports a successful Superior auction with Bush Brothers selling cattle hogs sheep and thoroughbred horses though no large machinery list. Cattle ranged 100 to 120 dollars and sheep about 20. Grade Duroc sows averaged 60 per head first ten sold. chickens 1.61. horses 150. cows about 75. machinery top prices. Hackett Graham Poland China sale at Burt last week yielded hogs averaging 60 to 70 per head.

Celebrated Silver Wedding Anniversary in Our Community

A surprise Saturday gathering honored Mr and Mrs Louis Christiansen on their silver wedding anniversary with about sixty neighbors present. Rev H P K Hansen gave the presentation address and the couple received a silver plateau and fern dish. J L Paulsen attended, noting he was at the wedding ceremony 25 years ago. Sales Wrap: Cattle Tops and Cartage at Local Auctions

Good sales continue as J Bradley and W J Matsen report strong auction turnout with cows around 70 per head. McCullough sale saw horses up to 150 and cows to 70, Sy tsima’s sale cleared two teams at 700, chickens 2 per head. Hassell sale noted sows averaging 85 to 70, topping near 80. Organize Patriotic Association At Emmetsburg

Sunday evening a meeting at the K C hall Emmetsburg organized an American Association for the Recognition of the Republic of Ireland. Father Savage presided and Miss Anna Donovan was elected presiding officer. Officers named Charles Duhigg president Mrs Dan Kelly vice president Mrs John McNamara recording secretary Ed McNally financial secretary J W Neary treasurer seven directors soon to be chosen. The Emmetsburg Democrat provides a full Ireland against England account.

Rebekahs Surprise Members With Silver Wedding Gift

An Odd Fellows and Rebekah lodge reception honored Mr. and Mrs. Louis Christensen and siblings moving away. An old time dance, I O O F three piece orchestra, and a midnight lunch with red pink and yellow decor followed. Mr. Fleming gave a silverware keepsake commemorating their silver wedding anniversary. Guests bid hopeful greetings for their Golden wedding in 1948.

American Legion Week Appeals to Join Graettinger Post

The John Nelson Post of Graettinger urges ex-service men to join during American Legion week. The post aims to be the best and largest in the county, inviting all Legion members to help outfit new recruits and support disabled buddies and adjusted compensation. Corley to Wrestle Saturday Night at Woodman Hall

Two wrestling cards are planned at Woodman hall in Grachtnger this week. On Thursday George Richards of Wallingford faces local James Paulsen in a 180 vs 170 pound clash with a preliminary bout. Saturday night Vee J. Corley of Emmetsburg meets the Thursday winner, with a first class preliminary plus boxing exhibition planned. An additional match with Prof. Olson and Ed Herke may follow later.

Richards Defeats Wikert in Wallingford Wrestling Match

George Richards of Wallingford defeated Ray Wikert of Wallingford in a Saturday wrestling bout, winning in a quick fall. The next day Wikert wrestled Richards forty minutes to a draw. Jens Eglund beat Ruby in the prelim and Gerald Reed defeated Sevatson in ten minutes.

M O Berkland of east of Graettinger died Friday when the wagon king bolt broke. He and his brother Oden were driving from the Alderson sale near Ringsted. Berkland, 33 and unmarried, was buried after funeral services at Fairfield Lutheran church.

Sunday School Institute at Local Church

A Sunday school institute will be held at the church next Sunday with sessions starting at 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Dr. Herbrecht of the state Sunday school association leads the morning and evening services, with Dr. Bushnell preaching at 11:00 AM and the quarterly conference at 2:00 PM. The event urges all Sunday school workers to attend.
