West Bend Girls Capture County Title for Third Year
The West Bend high school girls rout Ayrshire 21 to 19 to win the county basketball tournament for the third consecutive year. Mallard took third by beating Curlew 27 to 10 as Silver Lake defeated Curlew 35 to 3 in the semis. Awards were presented by Supt. McMillan with plaques to Ayrshire and West Bend and the tournament ball to Mallard.

Editor John J. Sullivan of the Grachtinger Times was rushed to Palo Alto hospital in Emmetsburg on Wednesday evening for appendicitis. Dr. McManus assisted Dr. Powers in the operation after Sullivan had suffered weeks of stomach trouble and a downturn to a hospital visit. The operation occurred just before midnight and he began to show improvement afterward.

Late Information on Auto License Refunds in Iowa
Casper Nelson, Palo Alto county treasurer, reports that refund checks will be mailed to those who paid the 1934 auto license fee before the legislature cut the amount. No application is needed. refunds go to record owners as of February 13. Checks start February 15 and continue for about 30 days.

Kesler Speran Taken To Pen Last Monday
Frank Kesler of Webster City was sentenced to an indeterminate twenty five year term in the state penitentiary by Judge F C Davidson in Jous district court Saturday. Sheriff Bert Montgomery and Leo Shea took Kesler to Fort Madison and Speraw to Anamosa Monday. Kesler was found guilty of robbery in connection with the Dan Sibrel farm home several weeks ago. He is the sixth victim of Sheriff Montgomery's crime war. A seventh man Jed Howton, in jail on an attempted murder charge, is to be returned here to stand trial for armed robbery. Howton boasted he would not serve any time and cited Clyde Barrow as a supposed liberator.
