Change In Train Service To Be Made Jan 10th
Rock Inland officials plan a change in service on the Cellar Rapids and Sioux Falls branch. The two gas electric trains through Graettinger would be eliminated. the morning bound passenger train would arrive at 8 30 p m instead of 6 00 a m, the south bound evening train would leave Graettinger at 4 10 p m, and the south bound afternoon train would start at Sioux Falls and run as a local to Cedar Rapids. The north bound train would also run local from Cedar Rapids to Sioux Falls with no sleeping car. The change shifts passenger traffic and would reduce Chicago access, benefiting the Milwaukee road but worsening mail service to Graettinger and other towns. The railroad commissioners will investigate before approval. Midnight Mass attendance at Catholic church drew over four hundred for communion. Christmas day services saw about one hundred communicants. Barber shops will stay open Wednesday and Thursday evenings December 30 and 31.
