Graettinger High School defeated Spirit Lake 38 to 22 in a hard fought game marked by rough play and a Spirit Lake player being ordered off for abusive language. Key contributions came from Guilford Paulsen, T Jacobson, Norman Thoresen, Captain Osher, and Joe Sullivan as Graettinger displayed team play while Spirit Lake relied on individual efforts and tripping fouls. Attendance was light, with a girls game later won by Alumni 5 to 3.

D K Brennan and partner O'Donnell promote a Davenport firm led project to build a filling station in Graettinger selling kerosene oils and greases with 30 local investors each paying 250 dollars for operating certificates. Character Witness in Federal Court Faces Jail Over Past Offense
A character witness described a friend’s good standing in their community in federal court on Wednesday. While testifying, the witness admitted a prior indictment for a similar offense about a year earlier and had not been apprehended. He then faced charges, pleaded guilty, and was fined, with sixty days in jail and three days granted to wind up affairs.

Reeluwe Died After Exposure Near Randall Farm
Andrew Ribbey, a reclusive bachelor living near Little Wall Lake ten miles northwest of Randall, was found frozen to death in his home yesterday morning. Neighbors, missing him a day or two, discovered him on the floor with only an old mattress and worn quilts for bedding. He died from exposure to the severe cold. Known as a queer figure, he had lived alone for years on his farm. Recently he agreed to sell his 80 acres for about $22,000.

Perkins Children Gemester Aid Funds At Iowa University
Students at the University of Iowa tied 200 dollars and many toys to aid the Children’s Hospital Christmas. The Daily Inwan organized the drive, funds to buy a motion picture machine for hospital amusement. Towa Seed Potatoes Show Varied Yields in 1919 Season
C L Mitch of Iowa State College reports seed quality greatly affected yields in 1919. Strong seed produced over 200 bushels per acre, while weak seed yielded about 60 bushels. Certified disease-free seed performed best. 1920 plans include distributing 150 pound lots at cost for 1921 plantings. Also notes a winter need for better certified northern seed varieties for Iowa growers. Basketball schedule for January to March lists multiple towns and matchups.

More Hog Cholera in Iowa State Months
More hog cholera has occurred in Iowa during November and December to date than in September and August, says Dr. K. W. Stouder of Iowa State College extension. Usually cholera peaks in August and September, but the cause of the rise is not yet explained and a serum is plentiful and easily obtained.
