A telegram from A V Lucas states he cannot attend the Gracthinger area Community Club meeting Friday. With the holiday season near, the meeting is postponed to an undetermined future date.
Miss Jennie Gabrielson Goen resigns from the Grachtinger Telephone office to take charge of Toland telephone office starting the first of the year. Her sister Miss Geneva will succeed her in the local office. Friends praise her competence and commodatine service.
Danish Lutheran Church schedules confirmations and services across multiple days. A Saturday forenoon meeting at 10:00 followed by Sunday forenoon services at 10:45 at the Norwegian Lutheran church. Additional services at South Walnut church 2:20 Sunday school. Christmas day services at 2:00 and 10:30 in English at Norwegian Lutheran church.
Des Moines News reports a Los Angeles murder case where a woman found near interurban tracks bore an M on her clothing and Chicago jewelry. Nurses from Chicago were sought. Miss Julia Montgomery remained unidentified until later linked to Marysville California.
The Gath alie Lands Aid Society hosted its annual bazaar dinner and play attracting many attendees. A luncheon of chicken and fried chicken meals drew generous patronage, with profits around $200 from the play and similar from meals, after expenses near $85.
John Jackmon was struck by a gravel truck Wednesday morning at the J. A. Spiax corner. His enclosed Ford was badly demolished and he suffered a cut above the left eye and a painful bump on the head, though he escaped serious injury after being thrown through the windshield. Will Give Dance Christmas Night at Woodman Hall. LeRoy Bartleman will host a nonocal dance with Th. W. Andrews of Sioux Rapids as the emcee. Tickets are $1.25 and spectator tickets 25 cents, ladies free.
Rev and Mrs Sande, longtime Graettinger and Lost Island ministers, were surprised at a basement Hawkeye Theatre dinner after Sunday services. Dr Nase led the presentation of a money “sack” as a token of esteem. L O Wigdahl spoke. choir sang. Bert Myhre and Grace Hall wed December 1 at Kensett, to establish a home on the Myhre farm near Graettinger. groom praised, bride warmly regarded.
Wholesale sugar prices fall to 8.25 per hundred as the sugar trust loses its hold. Report notes a market shift with lower bulk costs and potential effects on retailers and consumers.
On Saturday this week Hen Reeves will hold a closing out sale at his farm adjoining Graettinger west. He offers 97 head of pure bred Yoland China hogs plus 48 cattle of pure bred and high grade stock. Six horses and a jack, a large line of farm machinery and household goods will be sold as he quits farming. High bidder takes all.
J R Kiser and Ben Archer dissolve partnership and set a closing out sale for Tuesday December 21 at the farm five miles northwest of Grachtinger. Kiser offers 34 head of cattle equipment and five stacks of timothy hay with usual sale terms.
Saturday evening Ben F. Reeves received a call from the Register of fice in Des Moines noting his full page ad in the Graettinger Times and asking if he wished to run space in the Register. Auction ads in the Times have wide circulation.
