Torrence Is Student Teacher at Iowa State University
Bob Torrence of Graettinger is among 224 ISU students assigned to student teaching across Iowa grade and high schools in the winter quarter. He is one of 128 elementary education students. Cooperating teachers from area schools evaluate the ISU students’ classroom work. Russ, who attended Halfa Grade School and Ringsted High, returned to Halfa and later farmed near Dolringer before moving to Graettinger, where he ran a hardware store and later worked in gas and water services. He has been Graettinger’s water and gas superintendent since 1968 and holds multiple local posts, including Com munity TV agent and Torreson car wash manager.

Martha, leaving a dentist, walked into a glass panel thinking it was a door, suffered cuts and bruises, and filed a damage claim. The building owner argued the door had visible metal frame and hydraulic mechanism, and a judge ruled the injury the result of her own lack of care, dismissing the suit.
