Early spring the Gust Larsen family near Swea City found a fawn with a broken leg. They splinted it and gained a game warden permit to keep the deer. The animal recovered and became a tame, food begging companion. George Elder of Spencer and companions hunted pheasants nearby but found no birds, returning to their automobile.
