A P A Anderson Honored At Ames For State Brand Butter
A P Anderson and Lost Island creamery receive Iowa State Department of Agriculture recognition for producing State Brand butter. Only 21 of 400 Iowa creameries qualifiy to bear the brand, with scores of 23 for butter and 85 for cream. The brand gains acceptance in major U S markets and commands a premium. The Lost Island patrons take pride in the achievement and A P Anderson is credited with guiding the creamery to this distinction.

Sad Accident Kills Benson Minnesota Infant
A thirteen month old child of Mr. and Mrs. Rich Aylward was killed when a Ford sedan backing from a yard party struck the child. The accident occurred Tuesday evening in Benson Minnesota as the family observed a gathering. The remains were brought to Emmetsburg for the funeral held Thursday. Local friends extend condolences to the Aylward family in their sorrow.

One Injured in Auto Crash Near Emmetsburg
George Aylward of Emmetsburg, brother of Martin Aylward, was badly injured Saturday evening when an automobile driven by Mr. Galloway crashed into his team and wagon. He suffered the loss of two fingers and severe leg injuries but is reported to be recovering as well as can be expected. The auto was said to be without lights.

New Textbook Replacements In Gruettinger Public Schools
The Gruettinger public schools will replace outdated books with modern texts for the upcoming year. New titles include Beacon Second Reader for grade two, Young and Field Literary Readers for grades eight through eight, Prye Atwood Geographies and Beard and Bagley histories in several grades, and Synchers General Science for grade six, Milikin and Guler Practical Physics, and Long’s American Literature for grade twelve. The old texts remain in use where pupils have already begun them.

Graettinger Child Sustains Fractured Leg From Ill-Tamed Barge Horse
Maxine Drake, seven, of Graettinger, was kicked by a misbehaving horse while petting it on D. J. Flanders farm near Burlington. She told attendants the horse seemed friendly, but toppled and fractured her leg. Dr. R. J. Karney treated her at Burlington Hospital.

A home economist from Iowa State College Extension Service recommends a bright orange ice. She instructs to simmer a syrup from four cups water and two cups sugar, stir in two cups orange juice and one fourth cup lemon juice, add two grated orange rinds, then cool strain and freeze.

Fred Wolfe Dies After Brief Illness at 63
Fred Wolfe a well known citizen died Saturday night from heart failure after a brief illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday at his home and the Methodist church with Rev. C. J. Mekkelson officiating. Interment was in the cemetery east of town, with a large crowd in attendance. Born February 2, 1860 in Chicago, he was 63 last February. He married Mary Harris in Bureau county Illinois and had six children, five living: James Blaine Loren Vivian and Olive Masters of Jackson Minnesota. Survived by his wife two years ago he moved from farming to town life and enjoyed a comfortable home fees. He was a respected businessman and served on local cooperative boards. He will be greatly missed by his family and community.
