Mayne Meets With Farmers in Iowa Counties
Congressman Riley Mayne told a Northwest Iowa farmers meeting that Nixon policies will benefit farm prices as raw commodities remain exempt from the price freeze. He cited international monetary moves likely to boost demand for soybeans and feed grains and touted a 10 percent investment tax credit for farmers. Discussions also covered prospects for the 1971 corn crop amid weather and blight issues, with August crop estimates lowered by at least 300 million bushels. Supplemental Food will be issued in Emmetsburg on August 24 from 11:30 to 12:30, per Upper Des Moines Opportunity coordinator Betty Hessenius.
