Pals Of Agnes Behind Bars In Minnesota

Two of the three bank robbers involved in the Gilmore City heist were captured in Minnesota and jailed in Hennepin County after arraignment in Elk River on first degree robbery charges. A third bandit, August Backer, was wounded and hospitalized. an accomplice, Alice Hull, 18, was also moved to jail. The day’s rapid sequence of events followed the Elk River robbery and gunfight with lawmen led by Sheriff Earle Brown and Highway Patrolman Mike Ruspos.

Mason Recounts Time To Quit Farming In Graettinger

R C Mason, aged 69, sold the farm life and moved with Mrs Mason to a Graettinger home. He sought his birth certificate from England, learning he is 07 years old, prompting plans to work five more years. He has spent weeks harvesting and threshing.

Foster Grocery at Estherville Heads Strong Local Trade

Reporters visiting Estherville observed Foster Grocery run by Mr and Mrs Eugene Foster. The shop handles meat stock ice cream and soft drinks and benefits from a prime location and steady business. Foster also works for the Rock Island company. Chris Boecker of Carroll, brother of Wm Boecker, was injured in a fall while operating a separator. He fell ten feet, breaking both bones above the left wrist and fracturing the right wrist. He is 63 years old and local friends express regret.

Linda Spies Candidate For Queen Of Fair

Linda Spies named candidate for Queen of the Grand Historical Pageant at Palo Alto County Fair August 28 29 30. Hugh Andersons Brother In Accident

M Grodland reports an auto train crash at Langdon crossing on Monday morning. William Anderson, brother of Hugh Anderson, was slightly injured when his Ford coupe was struck by a train engine. He was driving about fifteen miles per hour as the train slowed for the station. Narrow escape noted.

Big Baseball Game at Grodland Park Sunday

The Benson feature game will be played next Sunday at Grodland Park with Mallard and Graettinger diamond artists facing off at 3 o clock. Admission is 5 cents. Found Valuable Diamond Ring At Spencer Camp

A diamond ring valued at 1000 dollars found while an attendant swept a tourist cabin at Spencer. The ring, lost weeks earlier, belonged to Mrs. I. W. Bradlees of Upper Montclair New Jersey, who had visited the camp. It was found embedded in a broom used by the tourist. Merle Grodland leads as the star in a school play at Sheldon Friday evening drawing local interest. Graettinger residents plan to attend. A Ford sedan wrecked near Estherville Saturday with damage but no details released.

Andy Johnson, who ran a J. A. Spies farm northeast of Grachtinger, now operates a tank wagon out of Emmetsburg. A new station stands at the county seat just south of the Milwaukee depot. Johnson, described as a hustler, will relocate his family to Emmetsburg soon after his auction on August 26. The Times extends best wishes to Mr and Mrs Johnson at Emmetsburg.

Steiners In Auto Accident Near Emmetsburg

Mr and Mrs William Steiner and children of Emmetsburg were in a Sunday auto wreck in Pocahontas county. The Steiner car met another vehicle on a narrow bridge. it was hooked, turned around and tipped over. Mrs Steiner’s mother, riding in the car, was badly injured. Mr and Mrs Steiner were bruised and injured lightly. the others escaped unharmed. The car was wrecked.
