The 1914 six cylinder Oakland owned by L. D. Jenkins of Rodman was offered at a sheriff's sale in Fort Dodge four months after his disappearance. Bids returned the car to Tremain and Rankin garage for $900 and it will be resold privately. Jenkins' parents have hired detectives but found no trace of him.
John Bunny, long time moving picture comedian, died at his Brooklyn home Monday after about three weeks of illness. He was widely known for making many people laugh and was regarded as a leading figure in early cinema.
West Kenline of Wallingford died April 22 after an eight week illness from Brights disease. Funeral services were held at home by Rev Case before the body was sent to Humboldt for church services and interment. Myron Sylvester Kenline, born August 28 1872 in Humboldt, married Sarah Summiers February 22 1897, moved to Wallingford 1900, farmed in High Lake township. He leaves a wife a daughter and a brother George Kenline of Swan Lake township, with many friends offering sympathy.
The court ruled former Sheriff Loftus not entitled to fees for summoning jurors. It holds sheriffs may not profit from fees beyond the fixed salary and county needs. The decision limits county revenue and impacts many counties statewide.
Sioux City police chief George W. Pierce was found guilty by a jury on the charge of conspiracy after a week of deliberations starting Thursday evening. Initial ballots showed eight to four against conviction, later shifting to 14 to 1 as the holdout juror overturned.
A 47 year old man from Arm strong was badly injured last week while removing a shoe from a large draft horse. The horse reared, the sharp shoe struck his calf, ripping a deep eight inch gash.

Elmer Mergerum, sentenced to twenty years for highway robbery, escaped Ft. Dodge prison by picking a lock, forcing a corridor door, and using a fire escape. He vanished with no trace found. He allegedly traveled with his family, once abducting a taxi driver after overpowering him and stealing watches and money before dumping him in a corn field. The Margerums were later arrested in North Dakota near a railroad. The woman remained in custody.
W H Noble sold the 20 acre part of the Gray place south of Hinkley for a new high per acre value at 162.50. Purchaser was D Curryer. The house remains with current occupants Lyon and Curryer will move later. The real estate mark lasted three days. Dalen sold 1934 acres north of town to Mr Hastings of Worthington for about 4000 dollars. Hastings will move in at the start of June. If a village move is noted, Diden may relocate to the village of Hinkley Minnesota.
John A. Neilson and Emma Egertson wed at the bride’s parents home near Wallingford with Rev. G Q Paulsrud officiating. The couple, attended by Sarah Nelson and Sever Eigertson, plan a Minneapolis and Chicago visit before settling in their new Wallingford residence. The bride, a popular Wallingford teacher, and the groom, assistant cashier at Farmers' Savings Bank, are praised as friendly and promising. The piece also notes a separate accident involving the Fickel family and a Vernon to Emmetsburg to Spencer move history.
In Wallingford on Wednesday evening, Iver Nelson and Ella Wolden were joined in matrimony at the bride’s home. Rev. G O Paulsrud officiated. The couple will reside on a farm in Emmet. The bride is daughter of Mrs. P F Wolden of High Lake and sister of Supervisor J M Wolden. The groom is a young farmer known for industry and enterprise.

Frank Fickel of Spencer was seriously injured Friday afternoon while moving a house when heavy iron chains broke and struck him. Report details are sparse and place names are partially garbled.
The Farmers Savings Bank of Emmetsburg and the Agricultural Extension Department of Iowa State College will send the best growing acre of corn winner to the Panama Pacific Exposition in San Francisco with stopovers. Any boy ages 10 to 18 in Palo Alto County may enter. Township prizes will be offered. Iowa State College will mail rules and provide ongoing guidance with local support to ensure success. John Labto of the C R I and P Ry lost control while switching an engine in Ger Mania yards. He leaped from the cab as the locomotive derailed tearing up track and tipping on its side. The engine damaged beyond immediate use and likely headed to the shops. This marks a fourth similar incident for Lab since joining the line.
Secret Service agents pursue a clever counterfeiting method that turns buffalo five cent pieces into five dollar gold coins. Hundreds of bogus coins have surfaced and a general warning is issued. Edges are milled to fit the new genuine coin stays, and the pieces are heavily plated with gold though detectible by hands handling money.
The Vitenka Creamery Co building is condemned following an inspection by Spector Clark of Sheldon. A special meeting of the directors was held Thursday night to decide whether to build a new crealy or rebuild the old one. The sixty days grace period expires. the condition was not sanitary.
