Funeral Of Mrs B N Osher Held Saturday

Mrs B N Osher born Gertrude Hovda in Vous Norway December 24 1847 died April 20 1982 at Wallingford at age 84 years 8 months 26 days after long illness. Immigrated with sisters in 1864 via Erie Canal then Milwaukee and Dane County Wisconsin where she settled with husband B N Osher. They traveled in a covered wagon to Emmet County in 1889 to farm near Twelve Mile Lake and later near Wallingford moving to a quieter home after nearly 60 years of farming. Survived by seven children Ole of Graettinger John of Chicago Mrs John Jacobson Wallingford Oliver Gilbert Mrs Alfred Nelson and Mrs Mall of Graettinger and eighteen grandchildren. Funeral at Riverside Church Wallingford with interment nearby led by Rev Strand and others. A large audience attended.

Ford Truck In Ditch On State Road Sunday

A Ford truck left Highway 17 half a mile south of Grachtinger Sunday night and tipped on its side near the east fence opposite Sophus Ras musgen residence. Witness C. E. Norris helped the two occupants, one named Callentine, both uninjured. Vehicle damaged. scene remained until morning as motorists stopped thinking someone needed help.

Mournful Loss Of Verna Graham In Foley Minnesota

Mr and Mrs Clarence Graham of Foley Minnesota mourn the loss of their seven year old daughter Verna after a complication of illnesses following scarlet fever and mastoid infection. The funeral was held in Foley on Thursday. Mrs Graham known locally as Misa Verna Dalen was a slater for Mrs Ward Noble in the city. The family includes three younger children and friends extend sympathy in their sorrow.

Graettinger High School defeated Curlew High 7 to 5 Tuesday afternoon at Elsenbast field. Cold wind and few fans marked the game. Graettinger will play in the county tournament at Mallard Friday at 3 PM against Rodman. other games are scheduled at 1 and 2 PM. Several Graettinger players were out due to ineligibility.

Barringer shipped eleven cattle to the Sioux City market and four decks of hogs to Chicago. Cattle sent to Sioux City will be resold to farmers who want pasture stock. A large amount of livestock is pastured in southern Iowa each year.

Beautified Ground at First Lutheran Church

Members of First Lutheran Church gathered on church grounds Friday to beautify the property. Large box elder trees were removed, the area leveled, plowed, and reseeded to blue grass, with work completed quickly for an improved appearance. Mr and Mrs W S Stevens move back to Graettinger and plan to reside in the city, after a stint in Graettinger and a publishing role with a daily goat magazine.
