Longtime lake observers say the winter kill was likely milder than in some years past. Reports from High Lake note no odor as ice melted, signaling light losses, while Ingham’s north shore showed a mix of hulfheads and wafleyes but optimism remains for a good summer bite. Local youths and anglers checked for catches with minimal success on Good Friday amid cooler temps and early signs of spring.
Friday featured Graettinger activities with eighty seventh graders from surrounding area visiting G H S including a Mason City boxing loss for Verne Trickel to Dick Daniels. Graettinger celebrates at Estherville Chamber banquet while seniors and juniors make the honor roll and the baseball team beat West Bend 8 6 at Evergreen Field with a late inning surge.
