Grafters Warned Against Aged Lot Impostors Soliciting Fees

Allen of the Town Old Age Assistance Commission warns that impostors posing as officials are soliciting ten cents from elderly residents near Eddyville in Mahaska county and mail solicitations have reached Ire- mont county. He says applicants do not need agents to obtain full hearings, and once forms are ready county boards and the state commission handle applications. In Graettinger, Robert Bosold, freshly trained at the Iowa Barber school, has joined Martin Myhre’s barber shop, described as a Graettinger native with a wide circle of friends.

Barn Fire Destroys Frye Farm Structures at Cylinder
A hay loft blaze on the Frye farm near Cylinder destroyed the barn and a nearby machine shed, with four tons of hay and farm gear lost. Jamon Carrigan reported losses near 1500 dollars. no insurance. Four horses reentered the barn before it collapsed. two were saved. Fire occurred about eight p.m. Monday.

Two Local Hearts Lose Members in Tragic Wednesday Deaths
Bernard Carroll 21 of Great Oak township died at Emmetsburg hospital from pneumonia after a cold worsened. Miss Mary Margaret Mulroney 17 of Emmetsburg died from a chin infection that spread to her neck and head despite treatment. Both were noted as fine youths with families and friends in sorrow.

October Snow And 40 Inch Ice At Port Arthur
