Adam and Eva stage success draws and enchants Hawkeye audience

The Hawkeye Theatre hosted two performances of the junior class play Adam and Eva drawing 200 pupils and adults in the afternoon and an overflow crowd in the evening. Directors Vivian Kelly and Joe Ball guided a 22 member cast including Jo Nelson Evelyn Els nabast and Adam Mason delivering a polished, high class comedy with notable singing by Lawrence Jensen and Gage Fink. The Times praises the cast, directors, and Grastinger High School for a creditable production with a happy ending.

A boxing show is set for Grasttinger on Thursday May 6 hosted by the Gracttinger Athletic club in an indoor arena with a very large seating capacity. The May 9 card features Verne Frickel of Graattinger against Miller of Sioux City, and Bwedo Allen of Graattinger also appears. Further details and the full card will be released next week.

Gracitinger Boys Fall 10-5 to Emmetsburg Visitors

G. H. S. Gracitinger succumbed to Emmetsburg High at Emmetsburg Friday afternoon, losing 10 to 5 after Emmetsburg rallied in the sixth inning. The county seat squad plated ten runs, despite Gracitinger holding them scoreless early, marking a losing day for the local baseball team.

C W Higgins longtime farmer and Estherville resident died from shock after left foot amputation. Born 1874 in Missouri he lived in Dedham and Graettinger area before moving to Estherville. Bonstead Wins Butter Contest at Humboldt Show

Oral Bonstead, operator of the Graettinger creamery, won first prize in the Educational Butter Scoring contest at Humboldt with a 94.75 score. Ames placed second with 94.50 and Boyden third with 94.25. Bonstead, a Graettinger native, has earned many honors since taking charge of the creamery and credits patrons for the quality cream.

Carl Christensen sustained a severe scalp wound after a 14 foot elevator toppled while he moved it. The accident occurred a week Tuesday, striking his head and shoulder. he received stitches and was only slightly dazed.

A Weinholzer Passes Away in St Paul

Antone Weinholzer of St Paul, uncle of Mike Weinholzer of Graettinger, died in a St Paul hospital. He was a pioneer resident, with a life split between Twelve Mile Lake area, Graettinger business, and later St Paul. Survived by wife, three sons, a daughter, and a sister in St Paul. The Times offers sympathy.

In district court Graettinger State Bank of Palo Alto county won possession of the First National bank building for 5655. Carl Spies bid 5500 with a recess, then 5550 before Graettinger State increased by 5006. Barringer offered 4000 under an optional contract. The bank will take immediate possession and plans to use the building as office space while a two year lease on its current location remains.

Three Car Crash Kills Woman Near Dickens

A Sunday highway crash on Highway 18 near Dickens killed Mrs. Dewey Snyder, 37, of Algona, and injured seven others who were taken to Spencer hospital. An Oldsmobile and a Ford traveling west at about 76 mph struck a stalled car after an elderly driver pulled onto the highway from a side road. The Oldsmobile suffered severe damage. Adolph Spies of Graettinger arrived shortly after the wreck.
