Unlikely marriage to crusty farmer unfolds in secret
Helen, a foundlings’ girl renamed Ifelen Whitman, travels to a rural farm to marry George Barnackel. The plan hides that George’s uncle, not the intended groom, is the crusty older man. Helen, frightened yet eager to escape, agrees to wed George that very evening.
