Large crowd packed the Catholic church at Sunday morning service as Holy Communion was distributed to many. Rev Father Kelly praised the parish youth and leadership, noting the strong turnout and devotion of worshippers.

Dust Storm Briefly Grips Graettinger on Wednesday Evening

A dust storm struck Graettinger at six o clock causing heavy dust in the air lasting until morning. The storm reduced visibility and made night auto travel dangerous with drivers nearly blinded. Ground moisture was scarce. Between two hundred and three hundred residents attended the Easter day trap shoot in Graettinger, hosted by the Graettinger Gun Club, with several prizes offered.

A fire at the Fallows Inn near the store occurred Tuesday evening around five. Fire crews arrived fast and limited damage was caused by an exhaust from a gas engine used in a light plant.

Funeral Of Mrs. Christofferson Held Thursday

First Lutheran Church Plans New 500-Seat Building

A Graettinger meeting decided to erect a fine new Lutheran church this year. The 36 by 88 foot frame edifice will have a 14 by 94 foot gallery and 500 seats with a full basement. It will stand on the southeast corner of the block bought from E. J. Mitchell. the old church, 54 years old, will be torn down and salvaged materials reused. Construction cost is 6000 to 7000 dollars and funds are largely on hand.

Forest City Couple Mourn Loss Of Ten Month Old Girl Mary Ellen

Mr and Mrs Harry McCulloch of Forest City mourn the death of their ten months old daughter Mary Ellen who died Monday from pneumonia. Funeral services were held in Forest City Wednesday, with interment at Graettinger M E cemetery east of town. Rev Fremont Fant officiated as R X N A and Camp Fire girls and many friends attended. The McCulloch family receive sincere sympathy from Graettinger friends.

Free carp distribution from Me dium lake at Emmetsburg

The Walton League sponsors sealing of rough fish from Me dium lake in Emmetsburg. Charles Spies told the Times 60 000 to 66 000 pounds of carp were taken. Fish are free to all who call. Graettinger residents urged to bring sacks and take fish. Four to five tons were available yesterday. A net at the Rock Island bridge prevents carp from moving to shallow water. Deputy Game Warden Ross Moses leads the effort.

Leon Moraine Taken To Emmetsburg Hospital

Leon Moraine son of Mrs. Martin Scnndslina of this city was taken to the Emmetsburg hospital yesterday with acute Bright's disease. He had been ill for several days and his condition was serious. Leon is a freshman at Gruettinger High School and many local friends hope for his early recovery.

Paulsen Joins Springfield for Spring Training

Gib Paulsen of Graettinger signs with the Springfield league team for the coming season. He left for Kansas City Monday to join the team as the Springs field club will face the Kansas City Blues for spring training. Paulsen is well known in baseball circles in Illinois and neighboring states. His 1931 Graettinger career is noted as fans wish him success at Springfield. Anton J. Cermak is elected New Chicago Mayor defeating BI Thompson by 200000 votes Tuesday. Thompson has been mayor of Chisago for 12 years.
