Grim Reaper Claims Two Local Residents in Tragic Week

The rural Times reports the deaths of Mrs. Rossman aged 79 years and Mrs. Hamsh Petersen aged 39 years, with funeral details. Rossman died at home near town and was buried beside her husband in Pomeroy after living in Fort Dodge since 1908. Petersen died in Minneapolis after years of illness. she served as an army nurse in France during World War I and leaves a father Halvor Petersen and two sisters, C J Lande and Tobia Petersen.

Late Mrs John Griffin remembered in community obituary

The death of Mrs John Griffin of Carlow is noted with a Friday funeral at Mallard Catholic church officiated by Father Smith of Ayrshire. Burial was in Mallard Catholic cemetery. She was born in 1840 in Ballyhigo Ireland and died at 86, survived by five children, seventeen grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

Washing Machine Demonstration Next Tuesday

A washing machine demonstration will be held at Charley Jensen Hardware store next Tuesday. A special representative will be here for the day. M. E. Ladies Aid set a bazaar and lunch next Saturday in Woodman hall dining room with a hot supper at six. Many items on sale and a cordial invitation extended to the public. Prices good. A Splendid Market Sale Last Saturday at Graettinger

Graettinger market day sale drew a record crowd with more machinery, household goods, and miscellaneous items on offer though livestock listings were lighter. The John Hester building sold to Frank Christiansen for $99, with Mr Hester having bought it earlier from Cedar Rapids Oil Company for a profitable margin. Returning from Salida, Colorado, Hoddy Rierson spent time with relatives, received rheumatism treatments, and noted health improvements after a year away aiding farming and attending hot springs and chiropractic sessions.
