Penn and John Swift plus S. E. Sanddvig as assessor and Miss Elizabeth Jensen as treasurer were chosen, with three incumbents returning to the council.

Deputy Game Warden Killed in Train Collision
William Shears of Orleans died last Saturday when a westbound Rock Island freight struck his sedan at the crossing east of Orleans north of the Welty place. He was 64, deputy state game warden, living at the state fish hatchery, with a widow survivor.

Danger In Eating Raw Pork Warns Doctors
Iowa physicians report several trichinosis cases among residents last year. Dr Charles Murray of Iowa State College warns pork eaten raw must reach at least 187 degrees Fahrenheit or be refrigerated 20 days or cured to destroy trichinae. He notes many samples are submitted for microscopic checks, but results are uncertain. The US Meat Inspection Department requires heat or proper curing to render pork safe for raw consumption.

Three Business Changes During The Past Week
Wilson and Bartleman sold their barber shop on the North site to Misses McBride of Brewster Minnesota. The buyers are sisters of John McBride who bought a pool hall a month ago and have worked in Sioux City shops for years. Bartleman and Wilson gave no plans for the future, and wish both old and new purchasers success. A. H. Shaver and Lars Petersen merged into one interior and exterior painting concern with many contracts for spring and summer. The Times wishes them continued success.
