Young farmer faces assault and battery charge

Wm Amstuts of St Joseph township was arraigned before Squire J Hel Lopeter on assault and battery as leveled by Harvey Steinbacher near Cedarville. The dispute over an unsettled threshing account led to a physical attack. Steinbacher filed an affidavit prompting Amstuts arrest and a court hearing scheduled for Friday.

Mail carrier shoots two large snakes on route near Grabill

J. J. Gerig, on his Grabill route one, killed two large blue racers on a road south of the John Conrad tile vard. The snakes measured 4 ft and 4 ft 2 in. respectively and were brought to Grabill to prove the capture.

Indiana University Announces Broad Summer Session Plan

Indiana University outlines a Summer program with about two hundred fifty sections covering physical education home economics general education and law along with special lectures for retailers and a course on the Indiana Constitution. The campus facilities will be open for students and include gymnasiums tennis courts golf labs and libraries with military drill first aid taught by the Red Cross. Last summer over eleven hundred attended and organizers expect a similar or larger turnout despite the war.
