U S Ace Baer Credited With 17 Downs Prisoner of War

Lieutenant Paul Frank Baer America's ace, claimed 17 enemy planes while with the 1st Army air unit. He was shot down over Germany on May 22 and taken as a prisoner. Major William Thaw reports Baer killed nine German flyers and eight others were vouched for by squadron members.

Seven Die as Car Crashes Into Truck in Elmhurst

Seven killed and 11 seriously hurt when a Chicago Aurora Elgin bound train crashed into a concrete mixer truck near Elmhurst. Victims include chauffeur Ian Mim Jones and Major Robert C.
