Elkhart Gamblers Fined After Police Raid on Pearce Place
In Elkhart last evening officers raided Fred Pearce's gambling parlor above the opera house saloon on South Main street. More than $500 in paraphernalia including a Klondike table and roulette wheel was seized and to be destroyed. Fred Pearce Ed Elliott and Harry Bowles were arrested and pleaded guilty. Pearce fined 25 dollars and the others 10 each plus costs totaling over 75 dollars. The raid followed a suit by John Oaterson seeking to recover losses.
