Express firm seeks Winona interurban contract to cover Goshen to Warsaw
F G Bennett of Cleveland for United States Express Co submitted a proposition to Winona Interurban Corp for handling express business on the Goshen to Warsaw line. Director Dickey says the offer will be reviewed at the June 20 board meeting. The Lake Shore contract expires July 1 and South Bend service on steam lines ends, prompting a plan to route via Northern Indiana and Winona lines with added cars and express messengers if accepted.

Thieves broke a window at Swihart Grady's barber shop under Beeson's drug store late last night and took five razors belonging to L G Grady. The glass littered the floor. Razors valued at 12 dollars were the only items taken and no clue was found. A bone near the window was not touched.

Howland Sentenced for Shooting Charles Carroll
Frank Howland a Goshen and Michigan Branch brakeman is sentenced to two to 14 years in Jeffersonville reformatory for shooting Charles Carroll a branch fireman on Lincoln avenue March 1. Carroll will likely never recover. Verdict followed a long jury deliberation with many ballots cast and a sealed verdict opened in court.
