Gonzales County 4-Hers Shine at State Roundup

Four 4-H members from Gonzales County join 1500 Texas peers in College Station June 6 and 7 for State 4-H Roundup contests. Anita Eredia earns Blue in Foods Show side dish division. Shawn Behlen, Bessie Fryer, Carol Knandel and Elizabeth Knandel place fifth in Dairy Judging. Elizabeth Knadel earns Jersey breed honors and Silver medal. team competes against 24 teams and 90 individuals. Accompanying adults include Jessie Bredia, David Behlen, James Knandel, Larry Settle, and Donella Pantel.

Three Minor Auto Accidents Reported in Gonzales Weekend

Jim Ball of the Gonzales police investigated three weekend collisions on St. Joseph Street. The first involved a three vehicle 300 block incident at 11 18 a m Saturday. Wayne Osborne 1974 Ford struck Rudolph Hrndrik 1976 GMC which then hit Michael Cuppinger 1976 Ford. The second collision occurred at 11 58 a m Sunday at St. Joseph and St. Louis when Elmer Whiddon 1970 Buick collided with Pena 1977 Chevrolet Impala after Pena turned in front. The third crash at 4 p m Sunday in the 900 block of St. Joseph Street saw Sherry Floyd 1966 Plymouth rear ended by Ricky Powell 1972 Chevrolet. All injuries none and property damage minor.

Gonzales City Council Adopts Street Work Ordinance

The Gonzales city council approved an ordinance regulating street cutting digging and repair within the city limits. They also unanimously adopted two resolutions waiving drilling rights near Texas Rehabilitation Hospital and canceling a 99 year lease with Gonzales Warm Springs Foundation. The meeting discussed park tennis court resurfacing but took no action pending information. An LCRA contract amendment increasing electric load was approved and a Revenue Sharing Budget hearing set expenditures of 66686. The budget was approved and crop set aside discussions followed with estimates for 1978 program eligibility and acreage reporting requirements.

Auction Slated At Mt. Wesley

An auction is planned for Saturday June 18 at Mt. Wesley Kerrville the United Methodist retreat center. Items not reused in refurbished facilities will be sold to the highest bidder with viewing from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. bidders register by 12:30 p.m. and pay and take purchases the day of sale. Auctioneer Joe Walters of Bandera leads the event. The listing includes beds chairs tables heaters windows appliances and assorted equipment.
