Department of the Interior message dated Sept 8 1911 informs U S land officers and registers that homesteaders in multiple districts across South Dakota Colorado Nebraska Oklahoma North Dakota Wyoming New Mexico Arizona Washington and Oregon are granted leaves of absence from residence and cultivation through April 15 1912 with conditions. Also notes Hon George McClellan received a pass to a Public Lands Convention in Denver Sept 28 to Oct 3 and could not attend due to loan business duties.

Bondsmen Make It Interesting in Marmarth Case
Last winter in Marmarth F C Hef faced bondsmen after Al Freed posted two bonds totaling 1000 dollars. The case dragged, bonds were forfeited, and now Atty Gen Heffron seeks repayment under Judge Crawford. Bondsmen attached Freed property including a half interest in the Sharp pool room and full title to the model boarding house. Shorty Taylor ran the properties after Sharp left town, until the attachment was served and trouble began.

Interstate Fair at Beach Delivers Biggest Exhibition Yet
The third annual Interstate Fair in Beach opened to great crowds with record attendance, superb livestock displays, and impressive attractions. Tradeable prizes and premium offerings drew farmers and townsfolk alike, while animals, flowers, and vaudeville entertained across four days. Wolf hunter injured by accidental gun discharge in North Dakota
Medora North Dakota September 27 a son of Will Collis ten miles south of town shot a wolf and hung the gun to skin it. The firearm slipped from a shed mechanism discharged the bullet went through his jaw knocked out several teeth passed through the tongue and lodged in the opposite jaw. He was treated at Dickinson hospital.

Man Killed by A Plow Engine
Marmarth North Dakota September 27 Anton Brandvold was crushed under the wheels of a gasoline plow engine at Charles Sampson’s farm. He had worked two days with a stacking crew. The engine struck him during a field round after a 30 minute repair break.

A major Marmarth blaze destroyed the Commercial Hotel Nic eum's barber shop Chamberlain's candy shop M B Olson's clothing store and the Pleasant Hour restaurant. Originating in the clothing store the fire spread rapidly despite prompt response and hydrant delays. Loss exceeded 35000 with 18000 insured.
