Fire destroys barn. three horses perish in First Avenue blaze
At 1 PM a small barn behind the Square Deal restaurant on First Avenue burned to the interior, trapping three horses. Two belonged to Houston Allen and one to E A Brown, a high school student. The owner E Brown's father owned the barn, valued at $75 to $100, with trunks of personal belongings inside. Firefighters and city engines failed to save the animals.
