Young man killed under farm engine on State Line road
A young farm hand, Fred Nelson, about 22 or 23, was fatally crushed when he went under a moving gas engine on a Sprague farm train four miles south of town on the State Line road last Tuesday evening. Earl Sprague, driving the engine, saw Nelson disappear under the left side driver as he returned to eat after checking the train. Nelson died en route to town after failing to respond to water, uttering only God help me as the lights illuminated the scene. The exact sequence remains unknown.

Mr and Mrs C H Bacon and family from Kilbourn Wisconsin stopped in Beach for a few hours while traveling in two covered wagons. They left Kilbourn May 5 and have lived on the road with seven horses and household goods for about 250 miles yet to go. They expect to winter with relatives in Billings Montana and search for a farm location. They came via South Dakota Lemmon Northern Pacific and Medora Badlands. Their wagons bore the sign C E Bacon from Kilbourn Wis bound for Montana.

Train kills man between Yates and Beach, NP victim
The Northern Pacific train No 4 eastbound struck and killed laborer Jim Keefe between Yates and Beach after a night of revelry. Lane, his companion, survived and helped identify the deceased. Montana authorities turned the body to Undertaker Walker for burial in the local cemetery. A labor lien had been filed under Keefe’s name recently.
