Dry farming urged after 1912 bounty in Dakotas and Montana

North Dakota Assembly Ends After Passing 300 Bills

The 1913 North Dakota legislature adjourned after approving more than 300 measures. Governor Hanna faces reviewing over 200 remaining bills requiring his signature or veto. The session featured the Neal bribery case and strong support for woman suffrage and temperance measures, plus significant appropriations for Jamestown asylum, state fair, and education. The assembly also authorized a Panama-Pacific exhibit and Norway centennial display to boost publicity.

Wibaux County Bill Vetoed by Montana Governor

Wibaux county created by the legislature last week and dissolved this week by Governor Stewart vetoing the bill. The bill would have formed Wibaux from parts of Dawson and Custer counties with Wibaux as county seat. Opposition from Glendive and Baker did not stop passage. governor veto cites need for a vote by the people and adherence to existing law. Glendive and Baker celebrate while Wibaux residents consider future action. Also note E G Langbein returns home from Beach to Elgin plans business moves.

Methodist Church Easter Services and March Sundays

Regular services Sunday March 16 with Sunday school preparing a special Easter service to be held in both morning and evening worship on March 23. Special music by the choir.
